RE: Generating Traffic to Your Website and Building Your List
Internet marketing mastering and success comes down to two main things: Your Traffic and Your List.
Your goal as an internet marketer should be to dramatically generate website traffic and grow your opt-in list without blowing your budget and without dishonest tricks or lies of any kind.
As simple as that sound, there are so many obstacles on the web that may delay or prevent your goal from becoming a reality. Three of those obstacles are:
No 1. Shorter Attention Span: People have shorter attention spans when they are reading things online. They tend to bounce around from site to site, quickly searching for the information that they’re looking for or that catches their attention. You need to catch someone’s attention relatively quickly or they’ll click the back arrow button and once they’re gone, you’ve lost that opportunity.
No 2. Competitors: There are more options online because many people are offering the same product that you’re selling and some of them have already master how to get people to come to their site and capture their interest.
No 3. Time Barrier: Most people that search for information online, have other things they need to do and gluing in-front of computer monitors may not be the best option for them. Even if they like you and need what you do, the fact that they have limited time and loads of other information on the web limits your chances.
With this in mind, let’s talk about website traffic, how to generate targeted website traffic plus what is list and traffic in detail so you can understand it more. What is website traffic?
Website traffic is the number of times your website is viewed by a unique visitor. The traffic to your website can be increased by placement of your site in search engines, purchase ads, through website optimization (SEO) and organic traffic (web 2.0).
Why do you need website traffic?
How many people knows about your site and what percentage of those that knows about it converts to be a prospect or customer would be the next thing to worry about once you have some targeted traffic directed to your site.
One major thing you need to keep in mind as you’re building your business is that you may have the perfect product, service or opportunity but if people don’t know about your site, sees it or have some sort of contact with it, you’ll go broke. You will be amazed that you will be the only one enjoying your great product.
What is list building?
List building is the process of generating and compiling a list of e-mail addresses from your visitors.
The process in most cases is not fast, you build your list by collecting one e-mail address at a time through data collection process (opt-in) and by compiling them into your database for use in email campaigns and direct marketing purposes. The closest analogy to list building is building a house – One Block at A Time
Why do you need to build a list?
This might surprise you if you’re new to internet marketing; it takes an average of 7 exposures or visits to your website before an average visitor converts to a customer.
With all the competition on the web, your chance of having the same visitor re-visiting your site is very slim, but if you’re able to get their information the first time they visit, which may be your only chance to get it, you will have the opportunity to present your product and services to the same person over and over again and prove to him/her that you’re capable of solving their problem(s).
